A Waltz with My Father
A Debutante’s Ball is a formal coming-out party of good manners, grooming and social etiquette for young women but also attended by teenage boys. Primarily a southern tradition, this one was hosted by a church in The Bronx in 2004 and held at a luxurious ballroom in Pelham, NY. It’s a formal occasion with weeks of preparation resulting in that special night of long flowing white gowns for the ladies and black tie and tuxedos for the men.
A father or uncle will do the honors of slowly escorting their young female partners onto the dance floor and, in a one, two, three step, glide her across the floor, letting her know how special, beautiful and loved she is!
