Lover’s Delight

Price range: $1,000.00 through $3,500.00

“Lover’s Delight,” part of my Love is Alive series, became therapy in confronting cultural ignorance. Through travel and Pan-African lessons, I embraced love, self-determination, and purpose. These images remind me: thought has no monopoly. If the world won’t make space for you—create your own and never give it away.

Lover’s Delight

“Lover’s Delight” is part of a larger body of work which I’ve put together in an E-book entitled “Love is Alive.”  This body of work became therapy for me, adjusting to the cultural ignorance of too many Black Americans. It represents a holding on to the essence of love because too many Black women didn’t support my quest towards the understanding of myself.

These beautiful photographs came with the price of traveling, visiting and relishing in different cultures. Returning with an understanding of Pan-Africanism, self-determination and entrepreneurism. These were foreign values to the average African American Black woman in the early 1980s.

The lesson is as follows: “There is no monopoly on thought! There has to be room in this world for you. If not, make room!” You have a right, a duty to find and execute your purpose in life. Don’t let anyone take it from you and by damn, “DON’T YOU GIVE IT AWAY!”
